CB mount/wiring
Hey all two questions:
1) Where did you mount the actual CB in the cab? I've got a Cobra 18WXSTII and I am looking for some ideas....
2) Where did you hook up the wires to? It normally wouldn't be a problem for me but with the MUX wiring system on the JK I don't want to cause problems.
As usual thanks!

I was thinking right ontop of the center-dash panel right under the mirror.
Either that or mount it to the soundbar...but then it will be outside when I have my halftop on....bad plan...

This is what I plan on getting.
I don't think the price is too bad!

I also have the cobra 18wsxtii I mounted mine above the rear view mirror. Looks good there and its out of the way. Also the radio I have has three wires one "red" one "orange" and one "black" not sure where to connect them. I know the black is the ground. But what about the others?
Mounted mine on the center console between the seats. Makes a good elbow rest and the compartment door still works great. You can pull apart the door and mount the CB bracket to the top then bolt the door back together for a clean install.

As for the wiring on the 12 WSXT II, it works like this:
Black = ground. Bolt it to the firewall.
Red = positive. Run it to the + bolt on your battery.
Orange = "switched" positive. You have 2 options for it. If you want the radio to turn on and off with your ignition, you need to find a power source that is switched by the ignition, and tap in to it. If you want to turn the radio on even when you have the keys out, then just run this power lead to the + terminal on your battery as well. I took this approach, as I want to be able to run the radio in an emergency w. out depending on the ignition circuits. I was concerned that it might damage the radio to do this, however a call to Cobra confirmed that it should be safe. YMMV, do your own confirmations.
If you mount it above the mirror and you want to hang the mic on the side, make sure that you give yourself plenty of space on the side you're hanging it from. I made the mistake of centering the unit and then attaching the mic clip, only to find out that the mic jammed up against the sun visor. I had to shimmy the whole thing 2" to the right to make it work.
Another thing to consider is the fuses on this jobbie. They're about 6" from the radio, which means that all the wire between them and the battery is un-fused. If that ever rubs through and shorts out, you'll have a 10' heating element running through your molding, firewall, and engine bay.
I re-located my fuses to about 6" off the battery, and installed a plug where the fuses were, it sits on top of the CB, just outside the spot where the wiring enters the molding. The plug makes it nice and easy to take the CB out, so if I ever want to run around town topless I can park it without fear of losing the radio.
