I love my "peaked/tuned" Galaxy 939. I've used CBs since the mid 70's, made a few historic runs 20 years ago thanks to some sharp truckers keeping me apprised of "smokey" up ahead.
Runnin the 939 with a 3' Firestick on the CoolTec mount works perfectly, gives adequate range for highway/trail use, has terrific night lighting, and with the Astatic mike gets real good reports from all the truckers running down the interstate here.
For longer trips I mount the 4' Firestick, and checking SWR is easy with the accurate SWR setting on the 939's meter.
I rarely drive the Jeep with the CB turned off.
It'd be nice if it would scan channels, but I can use the IC-92AD (on the CoolTec Versamount) for that.
With a combination of the Galaxy 939, IC-92AD with 2 meter linear and Larsen antenna, and a IC-F60 UHF HT on GMRS I've got short range comm covered. Planning on replacing the Pauldon 2 meter amp with a VHF/UHF capable linear in the near future.

I have been using the Uniden 510xl pro or whatever its called for years. Here it is in my custom home made no-drill cb mount.
They are cheap, easy to use, and tough. I just found one for my friend on Amazon for $34 with free shipping!

My Cobra 75 and 4' Firestik should be in on the 30th. Looking forward to getting it on the rig. Now I just gotta find a way/place to put the antenna...I'm not feeling the license plate bracket or the spare tire bracket...may need to go custom on this one.
