Default Cobra 75

I really like how these instal under glove box- with controls in mic. I was planning on getting one with the cool-tec antenna set-up, but I've heard these radio's don't have much range. Any one with this set-up please comment on the range, wether you like it- or would choose a different radio if you had to do over again. Thanks- Joe

All CBs have pretty much the same output, so it's a matter of tuning your antenna properly. This radio is great and I'd buy another one, except all I have to do is buy another junction box...and I have four already!

Default Uniden

I have a big Uniden CB from my trucking days- I need to sell it to get the Cobra. I hate messing with E-bay and Craigslist ( and shipping) I guess I could get the Cobra then pimp the uniden at the truckstops.

I have the Cobra 75 with a 2' Fire stick antenna. For trail riding with a group it does fine. It would do much better with a longer antenna. The main thing is tune your antenna, it makes a difference.

I used a Tera Flex mount which is mounted behind the spare tire. It's out of the way and only 2' tall, just extends about 3-4 in. above the roof.

Here's my set up, just what your looking for. I like it, and even without the antenna tuned (next weekend texas run) it gets good signal. I installed this week and last night talked with a trucker 30 miles away and sound clarity was great.

Set up is CoolTec Ultramount with 4' FireStik, Cobra 75 WXST. Two wire simplicity, quick disconnect handset (to keep from theives), And the only location it can really be mounted is passenger side under glove box, behind bottom panel. Route the coax under trim/carpet up the driver side, pass through lower tunnel opening. With 6" extra in taillight (in case I need to work on it) I had about 5 inches of coax left at module. Perfect.

Default Do I need a ground for my antenna?

I like your set up and Im trying to do a similar one. I went with the kit from Right Channel Radio and have everything installed but I am wondering about the ground for the antenna. Is it necessary for this kit?
