Has anyone had any experience with this radio? I like the idea of having a handheld and being able to connect it to the Jeep when I travel.

I'm just worried that this is too good to be true...

I have it, I Have a external antenna hooked up to it and it worked excellent on the trail for me,'i haven't used it as a hanheld

Is it fairly easy to put in/take out of the Jeep?

Hey buddy! I ran that Midland the last time we were at BH. Worked very well as a short ranged handheld. I say get it and attach it with a coax to a magnetic antenna on your hood. That way it's more reliable but not permanent. :thumbsup:

Got one and it has been great. Bought a mount for the spare and a firestick antenna. Also bought extra cable and ran it under the carpet to the front console. I keep it in the center console or glovebox when not in use. My opinion, you really can't go wrong. Oh yeah, you can also use the battery pack and take it on foot. Nice!:)

I just ordered one as I like the idea of removing it from the vehicle for other uses (spotting, other vehicle, etc) I also ordered a Firestik to get better range.

I use this in all three of our rigs. It works great with a simple magnetic antenna. We hardwired the main cable to a 12 volt power source so it's easy to slide the radio off that and slide on the battery pack for spotting/search and rescue work/etc. Grab one, you won't regret it.
