The more advanced radios start adding in noise blanking or cancelling features, switches such as ANL (automatic noise limiter) or NB (noise blanker) are the give away. Back in the days when we had distributor caps and cheap spark plug cables static was pretty common so you added filters to your CB radio's power leads. But today I would just check and make sure you have good connections and perhaps a better radio.
