Thanks for the input everyone. I just ordered a Wilson FGT-4BK with a quick disconnect, 18' of cable and a universal (god help me) mount...total with tax & shipping: CDN$76. Received my Midland 75-822 last night so things are starting to come together. Sweeeeet!

I have a generic 4 foot firestick without a spring and it has enough flex for me to just bend it over with a bungee for parking garages.

Default 2' Firestick

I use a two foot firestick on a terraflex mount with a spring. It reaches just slightly above the top of the jeep but goes anywhere and works fine. No issues. I just install it, tune it and forget it.
