Top Dash mount CB

Someone has to have done this. I want to take the "ski slope" stock dash topper off and mount my CB there. I'll probably fab a flat mounting bracket. I have not seen anyone do this. Is there something I'm missing? Will it cause radio interference? I don't have the mygig or any of the other gadgets. Just the stock stereo

Hello... new '08 JK X owner here.

To answer part of your question, you can buy a mounting bracket for a few $$$ at any truck stop or CB shop.

I also have the same question... I did a search but couldn't find an answer, so here goes....

I have a full size, peaked and tuned Cobera 29 LTD that I used to mount on top of the center stack in my TJ. I'd like to mount it in the same position in my new KJ. Has anyone mounted a CB there and how do you pop off the plastic top on the center stack?

Excuse the GPS mounted on top of the radio... it was a one time trial idea that got canned.

The ski slope center topper tabs can just be pushed in from the sides. A flat blade screw driver helps. But be careful not to damage the easily scratched plastic sides.

Taking apart the center of the dash area is a whole different issue. I've seen write-ups and picture of this on this forum. Much more than I want to do. Most likely, I will just run a power wire to the fuse block.

So, no one here has mounted a full size CB on top of the center stack?

It seems like Jeep designed the dash for it to be mounted there.

Thanks. I thought there had to be some. I just wasn't able to pull any up with the search

x2 thanks for the pics.

One question... isn't the compass mounted under that top stack cover and doesn't the magnetic field from the CB speaker interfer with it?

I know if I mount my old Garmin c530 it screws up the compass, but my newer Garmin Nuvi 260W is not a problem.

Does mounting the radio there, not invite shady characters to peep inside your jeep ?

For the larger CB's, I'm wondering how it would look if you took the plastic bit off, and just rig it up to mount right above the stereo...

I only use the CB on the trail. When not in use, I take it out.

I don't like the look above the center stack. I'm going with a hidden cobra 75.

I do like that placement of the mic holder, it won't work for me becuz of power windows, but it looks like it was meant to be there.

Have you looked at a Cobra 75WXST CB Radio? no box needed! I havent searched for this on here but there has got to be people running them.

There are plenty of people running them. I'd go out on a limb and say 90% of us have mounted it right under the passenger glovebox.

Only caution I've got for using the top of the center stack, is thats also where the compass is located. Its actually mounted to the top plastic piece. Don't just drill into it, as you might hit it.

Remove the plastic piece and measure from below.

Not sure how the CB electronics will affect the Compass though.
