Just remember, that CB frequencies work best on line of sight

May work for 10 miles in the desert, but fall all over 1 mile, between trees/rocks/hills

You should be able to get satisfaction with Volume/Squelch control

ur cb might work at an swr of 4to1, but I would never knowingly operate a CB radio with an SWR that high. Unless it was somebuddy else's radio and I did not like em. the final transistors will overheat at swr that high. once the final transistors over heat enough they will fail.

This may apply to your radio being as how u operate it at an swr of 4 to 1. Back in the day when cb traffic was very frequent (meaning u virtually had to talk over farther away traffic cuz it was most always there I broadcasted and received 20+ miles easily. using the side bands of the 40 channels I carried on conversations up to 50 miles easily. I do not live in the desert either.

Well, of course, but if you read the whole scenerio, that comment was a figure of speech--not advice
