Wison 5000 trucker antenna instead of whip?

Is anyone running a Wilson 5000 trucker antenna instead of a fiberglass whip? I kinda like my radio and would like to get out there a bit more. Since the antenna is 90% of your radio performance I was hoping it work better than my current setup. I'm using the Teraflex tire carrier mount.

Right channel radio likes them, but recommends the less expensive 1000 for low power (mobile transmitters being only 4 watts) radios. They say you get all the benefits without the cost.

Here is a quick write up they did on the 1000

Wilson W1000 MAG BK
Recommended for: High-performance, long-range CB use for individuals wanting an easy installation on cars, trucks or commercial vehicles. If using a 4-watt, stock CB radio, we recommend this antenna over the more expensive Wilson 5000. The 1000 is cheaper and will provide similar transmit and receive performance. Paying more for the Wilson 5000 is justified if you're running high-wattage radio equipment or if the antenna will be used frequently in extreme winter conditions, as the 5000's floating coil is designed to prevent ice-related performance issues.

Running an export myself, did you run it with a spring?

Mine was Mag Mounted, I had a Grand Cherokee at the time.

Yeah I had a 5000 mag mount on my old pickup, it worked amazing. Exactly why I wanted to try the trucker model, its a steep price to just try out. The fiberglass 4' whip is almost useless.

I was just wondering if you ever tried the Wilson Trucker, and if so was it better than the fiberglass?
