I'd say pull the console apart and take a look at the backside of the existing switch panel. That will at least give you an idea if you can use that area for aux switches.

Here are the night pics. I was actually expecting the LED to be brighter, but it's only a little brighter than the seatbelt warning light on the dash. Not bad at all...

Aren't the side curtain airbags located in the A pillar?

I have them so I guess I can't run the a-pillar switches?

In my 08, the side airbags are in the seat. Not sure about 2010+, but it seems an odd place to put "side" airbags in the front A pillar, dontcha think?

The side curtain airbags are in the seats. When you pull off the A-pillar trim, there's nothing there but windshield frame.

i figured im going to go with hour the first pic i posted was. easy. and wouldnt have to worry about hitting it with my knee or anything. im 6'1". and my knee is around the speaker area when i get in and out.
i'm about to order the whole pod piece (2nd picture) does anyone know what the back side looks like? I dont have a rubi, so the sway bar button would be useless. hopefully i could use that as one of my switches? anyone know what the backside looks like? cause i wouldnt be able to drill in it since its already a button.
I have an 08 Rubi and the switches in the OEM pod are all "MOMENTARY" switches. This means you will have to get "locking or latching relays" for any devices you control via these switches. If you don't already know, momentary means, you press the spring loaded switch once to trigger the relay (it locks with device on) and the switch returns to it's stand-by position; and you press the switch again to release the relay (device off) again, the switch returns to the stand-by position. So, the switch does not remain in "ON" or "OFF" position.
Also, these switches are not "lighted" when "ON"; because the device status indicator light is in the instrument cluster. They do have an illumination light on them to locate them when it's dark.
Hope this helps with your planning.
