Default 2012 Infinity subwoofer

Does anyone have any suggestions on a sub that fits in the stock enclosure that will capture the lows louder and better? I'm quite disappointed with the factory sub. Thanks guys.

Ive read about some guys swapping in a 8inch kicker that fits peetty good. I think they had to make a spacer ring though because of the kicker's mounting depth. The key though is using an external amp. The factory amp just doesnt send enough wattage to run any aftermarket sub with desirable results. Im saving up for the 13 inch JL stealthbox. Its pricey but apparently its unbelievable. In the mean time, have you poly filled the stock enclosure? Almost everybody
states that helps out quite a bit.

I haven't ploy filled it, today was the first I'd heard of it. If it's home audio I can do it, but wires, jeeps, and I don't mix. Where would I place an external amp so it doesn't get wet?

Installing an aftermarket sub will sound better but don't expect a huge difference. A small 8" sub in a plastic box, just not ideal. Now with expectations low you have a bunch of options. You are also right about the amp, it's needed. Actually an aftermarket amp will make the factory sub sound better. I run a Memphis 8" stuffed with fill on a kicker 350.4 amp. I like it a lot. Not super loud but clean and punchy. Much better then factory.

Mounted my amp under glove box.

It can be done and it can be awesome. I put a JL 8w3 in there with a 1/2" MDF spacer i fabbed. It works great. I dynomatted the interior of the housing, as well as much of the back of it, and polyfilled as well. The big issue was troubleshooting the rattles from the plastic back there. Most of them were along the back and side where the body panel touches the housing. I used more polyfill to stuff the back of it and made some rubber spacers out of black surgical tubing. Works like a charm.

You may have changed my mind about getting the $900 JL Stealthbox. Maybe ill try going
this route first. Can you tell us what amp your using and how many watts your sending to
the JL. Id love to see some pics of your install if possible. Thanks
