7" H4 100/80w Hella Headlamp System just came
I justed checked out the site ( I think these are the right ones > SM6024J Headlamp Kit for Jeep Wrangler 2007->. Replaces H13 lamp with Hella E-Code H4 Headlamps ), says the lights are "not for use with DRL's". Any know why off-hand? As well, how do these compare the the lights offered through Northridge?
Yes the Hella is much better then the IPF. The reason is because the Hella kit bypasses the Canbus system and gives you power directley from the battery. This allowes you to run wich ever wattage bulbs you want to with out worrying about the Canbus killing power to the lights. The IPF system uses pigtails the convert the h13 to h4 conectors. Wich means the canbus still limits the power to your lights and limits the wattage of the bulbs you can use.
Yes. It's not as good as the Cibies, but it's the next best thing. A side point, I don't know the legal status of the Hella's (DOT, etc), but they're legal in Europe, where as the IPFs are not legal at all.
The only headlight upgrades I'd consider are Cibies, Hella's, a retrofit HID setup (projectors), or LEDs.
