Default Aftermarket head unit with infinity system

I went to best buy the other day to get a dash kit and wiring harness for a double din DVD radio and they wanted $140 for some module kit. Do ireland need that if I don't have steering wheel controls or anything just because I have the infinity system. I'd be better off taking it all out and installing a new amp for that price. Has anyone changed out just the head unit and can better assist me before I lose my mind on that price

You 100% want the PAC if you are going aftermarket headunit and keeping the infinity stuff...

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_127C2RC...tml?search=PAC

will show you that its like 130 from crutch... and you can prob get it for cheaper but still might be worth it to just have bestbuy do all the work...

if you really enjoy audio... then don't bother.... do after market 4 way and interiors...
right now I have a decent head unit, and the shitty infinity stuff sounds like crap with it anyway...
I am going PDX-F4 and Polk MM6501's up front and 651's in the roll bar...
If the PAC didn't come for free when I bought the headunit then I wouldn't have bothered and just did it all at once with the amps... but I REALLY like my music to sound good... I run no doors no top A LOT... and I have e-ply nitto mud graps 35x12.5 and they are LOUD as hell... I also have exhaust so in the summer I CANT HEAR SHIT from the stock stuff... even MAXXX volume... which might explain why it sounds like all the speakers are blown... hahaha

(and I have everything gained down to -5 though -9 across the whole 12 band eq to try and keep it from distorting)

Yup. Get the PAC. Don't get it from Crutchfield or Quadratech. I bought mine from eBay for $65 rather than $120.

I just installed the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT over the weekend. Wiring wasn't too bad. There were some inconsistencies in wire coloring between PAC and Pioneer, but all worked out. The hard part was getting the bigger aftermarket unit in there with the extra wiring to boot! PITA!!!

Yes it's necessary. That little wiring module is what tells your factory amp to turn on. Without it you would have to run new leads to all of your speakers. Have fun, it isn't as bad to wire as you would think.
