Aftermarket remote starter problems
I have an automatic 09 Sahara that came equipped with the factory remote start option. I wanted better security so I had a Compustar Pro (alarm/starter) installed and the tech told me that I'd be better off paying the few extra $ and have the Compustar remote start wired up in place of the factory remote start system.
My problem is that I've been trying to use my Compustar remote start lately and the majority of the time the Jeep will start up and shut down exactly 15 sec after it starts. I stopped by the installer but of course it worked perfectly the few times I tried it at his place. He said that he reset the tach because that may have had something to do with it but that didn't help. He also mentioned that I should count the number of times the lights flash after the 15 sec shutdown as this could be a fault code to help him troubleshoot but of course there are no flashing lights once the Jeeps shuts down.
Does anyone have any ideas what so ever as to what the problem could be?

I used to install these (it's been 8 years or so). But shutting down after 15 seconds sounds like the remote start system detecting something it doesn't like. Probly not tach, that would be more like 2 seconds.
It is actually running when remote started and then it shuts down, correct? Does it try more times to restart without you pushing buttons again? If so, how many times?

The security system (the chip in the key) will allow the vehicle to start for a few seconds, then shut down.
15 seconds sounds longer than it should run, but it's always a possibility the antenna isn't seeing the dummy key or their bypass module isn't connected properly.

That sounds like a possibility. Out of curiosity, do you have any idea what the range of detection is between the transponder key and the Jeep (a few inches from the ignition, or maybe a few feet). Maybe the times that the remote start works it's because I'm standing to close to the Jeep and it's detecting the chip in my key

Gotta go out and play around with it and see exactly when it decides to shutdown or keep running.
Thanks for the help so far guys
Mark
