What can I do to improve AM radio in the jeep? Im about 2 hours away from NY and an hour from Philadelphia. Reception sucks from both cities...obviously worse at night. Is there anything on the market to boost signal?

Sirius satellite radio works pretty good.

I have done a lot of AM long distance listening over the last 45 years. AM has always propagated better at night.
I'll do a little research for you, though.

Edit to add:
The JK radio antenna is not amplified. I say this because some vehicles are (my VW for example).
The computer checks the condition of the antenna connections each time the radio is turned on.
The addition of an antenna amplifier may upset the computer (throw a code) when it checks for antenna conection condition. An antenna amplifier may not be good for the radio.
There is not much you can do to boost the AM signal if everything in the system is working properly.
The only thing I can think of is a device which receives AM signals, then retransmits a boosted signal to the radio antenna.

Anyone have any other ideas?

My 79 cj had a am radio

Seems like a good solution . It may also help to compare the reception on a digital portable AM/FM receiver and if the result is better than the head unit then the portable AM/FM can be connected to the head unit some may even utilize an ipod connection.

If the quality of reception does not improve, then you would know it is not a problem with the Jeep's system.

am i the only one that listens to espn radio or the fan? is the fan on sirius?

ESPN radio is channel 120 on Sirius. Not sure what "the fan" is?
