Default Any advice

Recently while using my winch my jeep started running rough, I have a lighting bolt light come up on the dash as well as the traction control light. It dies often when it is at an idle. Even if I'm going down the highway the lights will come on and I will have to turn the jeep off and restart it to clear the lights.

My guess would be either alternator failing or too weak for the electrical load on it. Could be a bad connection to the battery too...These are just guesses though. Did you upgrade your battery to a higher amp one or is it still stock?

Im still running the stock one but I'm thinkin I might of fried the CPU because it is doing all kind of weird stuff, It is in the dealer right now I'm sure they will blame it on the lift they always seem to weasle out of it.

Did you disconnect your battery to do a hard reset?

Yeah I disconnected it a couple of times, It will drive fine for a few miles and then start doing it again, I even disconnected all the accessories to see if that was the problem.

You could have blown a cell. Put a volt meter on the battery! How long have you had it?

Jeep dealer says thats its a bad wiring harness and that somebody messed with it and of course they cant cover it under warranty, I tell you they always try to
weasle out of something. I went off on the service manager telling him that the only people that have messed with it is when they had to replace all the wiring under the hood when a rag got wrapped around the front drive line and then hooked the main wiring harness and wrapped it around the front drive lines as well. That was an ugly mess. They say that the wiring harness controls my injection system I cant see that as being related to everything going hay wire while i was using the
winch. We will see I kinda think that the alternator is causing all the problems. Being that I was using the winch under a heavy load when all this took place. And as far as the battery i put a meter on it and it checked out fine.

That's why its very important to use your own power source for all your extra lighting and stuff. Did they show you where the wiring harness was messed with? I would try to make friends with the dealership and not enemies. Maybe try a different dealership.
