Bi-xenon / HID conversion
Anybody convert to HID's and keep their reflector lens? Xenons are supposed to have projection lens's but most of the after market kits just replace the bulbs. I want to know how the beam patter looks with the stock reflectors and xenons. I'm concerned of to much glare blinding traffic. Thanks for the help!
I'm no expert on it but the Unlimited I saw with that setup threw blinding glare everywhere, the driveway overhanging tree limbs in particular according to the owner.
The $275 I spent on the Cibie headlamps with Osram 80/85W H4 bulbs, and the Susquehanna MotorSports pre-wired harness has been the best money I've spent on the Jeep since I've got it.

I am definitely switching to HID's in the near future, just curious about the beam pattern with the stock reflectors. Sounds like some contradicting reports. I'll probably do the conversion and if the beam pattern throws light too much then upgrade to aftermarket housings. Edwin907 those Cibie's look great! Had an interesting experience this morning i'm about to post about right now. Keep in mind I havent touched anything as far as wires go, I was actually on my way to a auto shop to check out HID kits haha.

I have them headlights and fogs. pattern will be the same as stock just a lot brighter. I lowered the aim on them by three turns and no one flashes me. I bought all of the daniel stern stuff but wanted to keep the stock appearance so never installed them. I will probably get the hid bulbs for them when these go bad because they will have much better cut off points. make sure that when you order a kit you get it with both high and low beam both in hid. if not you will have only low beam.

I agree you have a great point.
I used the true HID conversion with ballasts. Not the cheap bulbs that say they are xenon HID that overheat the wires and cause problems.
I use the 35 watt consumption kit. I also used the stock housing and didnt modify anything.
In fact it imporved my light pattern and very similar to an Audi or a BMW. It focuses the light where I need it most, on the road towards the bottom and to the sides. It doesnt just flood light all over the place.
I used 6000k hyperwhite. It gives off a subtle blue tint that resembles a mercedes, bmw, or audi. Looks very Euro and I am quite happy.
Take a look at a few pics. Sorry I couldnt figure out the photobucket.
One picture is from a Chevy Nova with JK lights.(I crashed a previous JK and saved some parts)
One picture are the converted lights during the day
One picture is from my Rubicon showing a converted light and a stock light.
Hope this helps some of you in deciding. I paid about $200 for my kit. From a local shop.
