Default Can you mount two Single Din HU's

Just as the title sayes, would I be able to mount two single DIN head units in the JK? If so, do I just need one of the Metra Double Din kits? Any other gotchas?

You need custom cables that split the heads to the chassis wiring. A double din won't really fit quite right, since there will be a little space in between the two units. What are you planning?

I'd like to mount a Din sized CB radio under a Kenwood HU.

I can make up for a little extra space. I just needed to know if there was enough space physically.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I don't think that there would be enough space. I have a single DIN HU and there is a tiny tray under it. It doesn't seem like there would be room, even with some trimming.

I could be wrong tho, it's happened before.

Ok, now I see what you are saying. I think there are double din units that split into 2 singles. Crutchfield has a single din that you could probably stack. Although a local stereo installer might have better options.

I called Metra, and they told me that their DD adapter would allow for two HU's. But I question this, as previously written, It doesn't look like there would be enough space. Looks like I'll have to figure this on out on my own.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Default two head units

From what i understand there is physical space to mount two of them. and the metra kit will allow you to do that.

The problem might be the trim rings that come with most aftermarket head units. There might not be enough room for both of those, without a little custom work at least.

Let me see some pics if you get this done. Mine is still on order but I was planning the very same thing as my first mod. Already have a slim cb and kenwood stereo from the TJ so I can't let them go to waste.
