oK i just had my viper 5900 installed with the radar sensor module.

So far Im happy. I made them lower the 2nd radar sensor to very low sensitivity which is the one that usually gives false alarms.

It works pretty well. Stick my hand in the Jeep and it chirps in most areas. Behind the rear seat area doesnt get that great of coverage but 60% of the time it with give a chirp warning.
I Like the 5900 becasue it let's me know if it's a warning, or a door has been entered... I would like to get a hood module which tells me if it's been opened. I have remote start on it, and it's a manual. Only issue I have is that if its in gear and the e-brake is up it will start and take off!

Their is a module which is supposed to stop this I think its 689M or something to that degree. Searching for it now.

i have the same alarm i like it alote . it should of came with a hood trigger mine did . so if someone opens the hood it goes off. i also got the radar/moiton sensor but i put a switch on the alarm tirgger wire so that i can have it only chirp and not set the alarm off just from the moition sensor. its nice on windy or rainy days with the soft top just to have it on warning chirp , so i dont get alote of flase alarms.

Default alarm?!

Why bother?

Just make your insurance deductable $100 for comprehensive...

if someone steals your MyGig, your out $100.00

and your insurance doesn't go up for that kind of thing, since its not your fault...

for the price of an alarm / install, they could steal 5 of them from you...

well i wanted a alarm for other stuff in the jeep also plus remote start and keyless entry . plus it is a big hassle to file a claim if someone does steal something. i just feel better having a alarm .

I have the avital 4400 system. It is by directed electronics (Viper python etc..). I also got a motion sensor with it.

The two things they are telling you are crap. first of all the motion sensors are made for convertibles. On the box of the motion sensor it says "Great for convertibles". You don't need a roof. With the tint the guy may have a point. Metal does block the motion sensor's detection. But if you have a window there, there is no use for the motion sensor to monitor that area. If someone breaks the windows the shock sensor will go off.

I love my motion sensor. It works very well when I take the top down. I did not buy the security system to protect my car from being stolen. I bought it to protect my toys inside (radar detector, GPS, CB, Disc golf set, strap, and other goodies). Sure I could buy the Tuffy lock box for my electronics but it becomes a pain always having to take down everything. It just keeps the punk/non-professional thief out. This system has the 2 way remote so it tells me if my alarm is going off. This system, however, has one of the lowest ranges of only 1000 feet. Still enough for when you go to the store and what not.

My only complaint is the false chirps I get once in a while. My system will chirp when somebody gets too close and go full alarm when inside. For some reason I get false chirps sometimes when no one is around. I still haven't figured out what is wrong. It could be rain and wind but I still need to test that theory out. I've had the system for about 3-4 months and this has happened maybe 5-6 times. It would just keep falseing every few minutes for a while.

The system also has remote start (which I didnt hook up yet) and a bunch of other goodies. For example it can start automatically everyday at 6am, or maybe only when the temperature gets below 0 degrees.

Overall its a fun toy to have if you can afford it. It gives peace of mind knowing that your baby is slightly more protected. People are also always asking me what that "LCD Screen" is doing on my key chain.

Have these pics from earlier

I have mine right here. You can see the red black blue green cable going to it.

The falses happen a couple times after driving in the rain. Maybe the rain dripping off made it go off? The jeep was wet in probably 4 out of the 5 or 6 cases.

i cut the blue wire and put a switch in line and installed it in my center console box that way i could turn off the tigger output and it would just chirp because i was haveing the alarm go off to offten but i still wanted it to warm someone . or i can turn it on if i want . works great . i know you can adjust the sensitively of the alarm tigger but this works better for me . i have the sensor in the center of the jeep under the armrest console.
