Clutch bypass

Saw several posts about clutch bypass. All seemed a bit different in location of said wire to ground either momentarily via a switch or permanently. I chose the latter.
On my 2017 JKU, the clutch pedal switch is on the engine side of the firewall, just below two relays and the horn. .
I disconnected the horn and two relays directly above to gain access (10mm box wrench and body panel tool). Removing the wiring harness required use of the body panel tool pried against the body to depress the clip inward. Can never tell how some of those wiring harness mate together.
I then removed the split loom to gain access to the YELLOW/ORANGE wire. I used a green jumper wire with alligator clips to test the wire before cutting. There’s a grounding post merely inches away that seemed perfect. I cut away 1/4” of the yellow/orange insulation and made a 3-4” grounding wire (20AWG) with a closed end terminal fitting and then soldered everything together. Presto!

Curiosity has my interest- why'd you bother with a clutch bypass? 4lo has it built in.

Reason for clutch bypass

As mentioned in many of the other similar threads, I too wanted to be able to start the Jeep by just reaching in and turning on the ignition. Habit from my recently sold CJ7 to let it warm up before getting in; especially in winter. Call me “old school”, but I let my cars warm up more than 5 seconds before driving.

I just learned something new. I figured I was going to have to tinker with wiring to allow for emergency hill starts; this is great news. :D

Hold your horses

So yesterday, first time driving after the mod, I discovered that this bypass causes a check engine light and the cruise control not to engage. Logical but I was hoping it wouldn’t happen. There definitely needs to be a momentary switch in the bypass for this to work and not cause the error and the cruise to be inoperable. I’ve seen a few other threads with this setup.

Quick question for anyone that can answer. I have a 2015 jku and am needing a wiring harness for a rebuild and am curious what wiring harness the clutch switch is connected to. If anyone can provide a part number for the harness or further info, it would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if it is the same harness that the horn and brake fluid level sensor are on or if it is another. TIA

I was going to bring up the cruise not working as it thinks the clutch is pushed.

What wiring harness is the clutch interlock connected to? Does anyone have a part number or reference to what section it's on? Thanks.

For a remote start the only cheater way I can think of is if the remote unit has a user output that can drive a timer relay which times off the clutch interlock for say 10 seconds - time to start - then it times out and returns the clutch interlock circuit back to normal. Timer with Normally Closed contact Instantaneous Open and Timed Closed. Potter&Brumfield make them with a plug in base.
