Default dashboard speaker HELP!!!

i'm looking to replace my speakers because they keeping popping and crackling at certain volume levels (there is also zero bass coming thru). i've gone to 3 different places to have them installed. The problem is that no one has ever done this on an '07 wrangler and they say it will cost $200-$300 just for labor. I know some fellow members of this forum have replaced their speakers... where did you go? how much did it cost you? if you did it yourself, how difficult was it? can directions be found anywhere?

another issue is my cd player -- i'm going to replace that as well to upgrade the whole stereo system. i spoke with someone today who said you can not replace the '07 wrangler cd players bc your windshield wipers will not work and your check engine light will turn on. is there any truth to this? i'd really like to hear some other people's experiences and recommendations.

thanks

I see you copy/pasted this from another thread you made in another jeep forum. Hows it going over there?

There are quite a few JK boards, but stuff like this and people like wayoflife/tte, make this one my "Go To" for JK info.
