Daystar lower dash panel
So I bought the Daystar dash kit, and I was looking for some advice on whether to keep the lower dash panel and switches. I could use one for lights, but most of them come with a switch and what else would I use the switches for.
If you don't have a rubicon, you can use them for lockers. I will be using one for the ARB compressor, and one for each the front and rear locker. I have already wired my lights to another switch, but I may add more lights and fill the forth spot.
I have it and all four are in use! One for aux lighting, one for front and mid rocklights, one for rear rocklights (backup lights), one for my Spal trans cooler fan.
I've had one of these for over a year now...Lights, Winch*, CB, and <blank>.
I just spent a weekend cutting and splicing 2 of them together to make a 7 switch panel (yes, I need to take some pics) and painted it silver to match the interior trim of my Sahara. It will now be the above items + OBA Compressor, Front Air Lockers, Rear Air Lockers. I would like to add more lights at some point, so that will fill the <blank> spot someday, but since I rarely wheel at night, I haven't found the practicality to add more lights except for looks.
*Winch - most people don't wire in their winch with a cutoff switch. I'm no expert, but I bet the item draws a minimal amount of power even sitting attached. I bought a Painless Wiring 250amp relay and wired it to a switch and the winch. For $100 it makes me feel comfortable and in control.

Great this is what I was looking for. I have an 09' Rubi. So I guess I don't need lockers, but will be adding a winch, and lots of lights.
As for the lights, I did not get a wiring kit, is it better to buy a painless wiring system or try to part it out myself. (Do I really need relays and fuses??)
Has anyone tried using the blank space next to the ESP button?
Thanks for all of the advice, as I embark on modifying my stock JK.

i use min eright now for interior lighting in the foot wells ... hella fog lights ... hella windshield lights ... and blank
good thing with the hellas (and im assuming other offroad lights) is they comes with wiring harnesses and relays already so you are set with those
other than that get 12 female wire connectors, some wire (probably like 16 gauge) and also a few ring connectors to ground the switches and youll be set
you just have to run power to the switches and ground from the switches to light them up and also the signal wire from your lights relays and you are set
i ran 4 gauge wire in from the battery toa distibution block and then split that into the 4 switches instead of running 4 leads from somewhere then i grounded the switches into the passenger footwell
if you need help or pix just let me know
