Which Double Dins?
 

Hi, I'm looking to put a double din into my 08. I do not know much about electronics, but i know what i want. Things I really want would be plug and play, blutooth options, aux, usb, and navigation.

Are there any double dins you would recommend to me? I have only looked into Kenwood so far.

I recently got a Pioneer 4100nex and so far I'm really impressed with it. Tons of features and settings.

x2 really nice plus detachable face as a theft deterrent.

I went to Cutchfield to see what was needed then ordered it through Amazon and saved a lot.

Not worth saving $20 for me to lose the customer support and tech support Crutchfield gives. Then factor in Crutchfield includes all the adapters and dash kit you need to buy separately from Amazon and it's usually a wash at best.

A little more than $20, even with $20 - $40 worth of adapters, not close to a wash.

I recently purchased a new head unit. I went back and forth with Amazon, Crutchfield and a couple other sites to compare prices. Crutchfield was the only site that offered technical assistance and was actually a Pioneer authorized retailer. Beware that when you buy from Amazon and others that are not authorized dealers you may not get a warranty.

For a head unit, iDatalink, antenna adapter and dash adapter the cost difference was about $150 more from Crutchfield. After asking them a few questions and considering the warranty I thought it was worth it.

After replacing my head unit I can tell you the iDatalink works very well for steering wheel controls, but it will NOT allow a Pioneer head unit to have fader control over the Infinity amp, if you have the factory amp.

I would also recommend you just bypass the factory amp and wire the head unit directly to the speakers or add an aftermarket amp when you replace the head unit. It will save some trouble. I wish I did it.

If you have a factory installed amp, set your fader all the way to the back speakers before you replace the radio. The factory amp will remember the last setting just in case your setup won't control the factory amp, even if the manufacturer says it will. Another great tip from the Crutchfield tech that answered the phone.

Either way you go, I am sure you will be happy you replaced the factory head unit.
