Default Export Mode and Daytime Running Lights

The dealership just refused to set my Canadian vehicle to export mode because it would disable the Daytime Running Lights. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I almost destroyed my JK last year when it was two weeks old when two Moose decided to run in front of me. They are big and surprisingly fast moving, they came out of the ditch close to the Jeep and with the high beams on, I barely saw them in time to react. I suspect that having the fog lights on to fill in the space closer to the Jeep would be really useful.

You Could Install A Set Of Extra Driving Lights On Your Bumper That Would Be On A Seperate Switch .

YES. it will disable your daytime running lights. it was the same as my magnum.
if i remember correctly though, on the starscan, you can change the mode and still be able to activate the daytime running lights as well.
I'll check with my friend at the dealer and let you know.

If you can supply me with a list of steps it would be greatly appreciated. I could care less about DRL. I turn on full lights every time I'm behind the wheel and then laugh at people driving at night with nothing but DRL.

ok, now that I have that out of the way!

to enable your fog lights with high or low beams

you change the mode by doing 1 of the following steps... (depends on model)

starscan main menu > vehicle preparation > enable fog lamp output > disable > next/finish > enable >export > next/finish

or

starscan main menu > ECU view > FCM/CGW > misc. functions > enable front fog lamp output > start > next > disable > next > cancel > start > next > enable > next > export > next > finish.

Enabling Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First and foremost, your dealer (or me) must have version 6.03 or higher to get the DRL's to work. Earlier versions had a bug that would let people enable it and it looked like everything was ok, but it did not work. So here we go:

From the main screen, click Vehicle Preparation.
Scroll down the list until you see the selection "Enable DRL"
Select it by touching the screen where it says "Enable DRL" and then press the start button. After a few seconds a window will pop up (yeah pop ups are everywhere not just the internet).
If this is really what you want to do, click the next button at the bottom of the pop up.
Click the Enable button and wait a few seconds. If the change was successful you will see a window that reads, "the DRL feature is now "enabled".
Click Finish and that is it. Go and check to make sure your DRL's are working now.

your fogs will now work with the low and high beams on and you still have DRL lights!

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Thanks, I'll print out these instructions and take them to the garage so that I can this done. I don't want to go back just for the heck of it, so it will be in 2-3 months when I next need an oil change.
