Fog lights
That is happening because HID bulbs do not belong in stock housing. Not only is it illegal but as you can see potentially catch on fire. Spend some money and get some Rigid duallys and the brackets to mount to factory fog location
can you hook me up with a link to where I can find these and they will fit in my stock housing?

1. Any. There are no laws governing bulb type in an auxiliary light.
Your statement is true when discussing headlights. To a certain extent. It is not illegal to put the bulb in a stock housing if it has been properly upgraded to project the light as in a manner to not obstruct the view from oncoming traffic. (As in a projector retrofit). Just blasting off like you are says you are tired of being blinded by dickweeds with blue HIDs in non retrofitted housings. I am too. But, I also HAVE HIDs in my Jeep. On all front facing lights. They are, however, installed legally and have DOT approved retrofits to make them so. As to WHY the bulb melted the lens? My guess is that the bulb is a high Kelvin bulb with lots of mercury and less salts in the ignition area of the bulb. These types of cheap blue (high Kelvin) bulbs run substantially hotter than a quality double encapsulated UV resistant HID bulb. In fact, a high quality bulb that is double encapsulated will run cooler to the touch than a halogen.
Pass me the step stool. In done. Haha.

This may be an option. I replaced my crappy stock plastic housing with some Pilot 3 inch fogs. They will fit in the stock mounting brackets with a little modding. However, the Pilots have a glass lense and a metal housing so they may hold up to the heat better. I ordered them off of Amazon for around $35. hope this helps.
