Heated Seats
I recently ordered (last week) myself a new 2-door JK. While I'm waiting for it to be built and shipped my way, I've been looking at some of the things I'd really like to do with it. I've been spoiled with my last car having heated seats and I don't think that I want a car without them, especially since they will lengthen the season I can go topless on.
I've been looking around at different aftermarket seat heaters to install, but I'm not 100% sure how easy it would be to remove the upholstery and install the heating elements myself. I was, however, happy to see that the Jeep Compass comes with heated seats so I can order the switches (probably fairly expensive) from Jeep and install them where the lockers and sway bar disconnect would have gone if I could have afforded the Rubi. Has anyone done this in the past? Have any thoughts on it? Besides that it's a jeep and I should just deal with it? |

They make TJ seat heaters, I guess they work very nicely from what i have been told. |
I did look at them, but they are over $400 and replace the factory seats. I have a hard time spending that much money to get rid of perfectly good seats when I can get everything I need (although the switches won't look factory) to install it myself for about $200.

Rostra Precision makes a set that worked easily for the TJs. Writeup is here.

How hard can it be to remove the seat covers? |
Do you have seat covers? Most use straps or elastic, very easy.
