how to reset mygig

Here's what's posted in the FAQ at MOFV:
A: There is a radio option to recalibrate your touch screen. Please press the following three hard keys simultaneously RADIO/MEDIA – SEEK UP – NAV (AUDIO on REN). Once you begin to recalibrate the touch screen you must finish. Audio confirmation prompts are provided for each of the three points of calibration, one beep for the first, two for the second and three for the third. The calibration needs to be precise as possible and a PDA stylus would be recommended. The MyGIG radio requires the user to repress each calibration point to confirm the calibration process. A green crosshair indicates proper calibration.

I'm guessing you've tried the "reset to factory defaults" under the engi menu?
If that doesn't help you, you MIGHT be able to download some of the updates and update it, or downgrade it then upgrade it to where you are to REALLY reset the settings.
Good luck.

Is it that far off? If it is, maybe there is something wrong with the actual screen?

You can update the firmware on REN models. The latest version should be around 9.112. If you need it, go to mofv.com/mygig to find it and download.
Seeing as you've tried everything else mentioned, the only options you have left are reflashing, going back into the engineering menu and look for the system reset or trying to find a dealer that can help you. You could also go to the mofv.com site and check their forum to see if anyone has posted a similar problem there.
As for disconnecting the battery cable, did you leave it off for several hours or like under 30 minutes? Supposedly it can take up to several hours of being disconnected to help reset some things. One other item to maybe try again.
