HVAC control knob pointers glow.
Hello. I don't know if this is normal or not. This is my first Jeep. I noticed the other night that the pointers on my HVAC knobs (2012 Sport) were dimly lit with the key off. I had the dealer do the airbag recall for the passenger side last Monday. Today I pulled the dash and unplugged the controller to make sure I wasn't crazy and indeed there is a dim glow when I plugged it back in. It doesn't seem to affect the battery but... if it is not normal I'd kinda like to fix it, lol.I never noticed it prior to the recall, but can't say it wasn't there then.
And stuff like this is the primary reason I will take my chances with the airbag. Those monkies at the dealers ain't good enough to yank my dash out and get it back with no issues IMO. I've seen so many stories about things either not fitting back right or quirks after having this airbag replaced. I can't imagine why those would glow dimly, but they shouldn't.
Wow! No way! Same here! I thought I was the only one. I too have a 2012. Not that it matters, but it is a 4 door with oem half door n soft top model. Automatic. X or Sport.
Mine also has A/C dials that glow ever so slightly. All the time ! AND ,,,No. I have NOT had the airbag recall fixed. ( I know I should. But I have a full roll bar cage and do not want everything torn out. Nope.) So. Whatever the reason. It came that way.
FWIW. I am coming up on 9 years of ownership with 12,500 miles. I recently was proactive in replacing the oem battery. The three dials were lit before the change and after the battery replacement. The jeep may be garaged for many days at a time. Yet has always started. No dead battery. Ever. (Although there is that damn engine ticking.) but I digress.
just role with it. Annoying. But it should not be an issue. Best of luck.

I'm revising my original statement. Getting ready to go out wheeling and I focussed on this while out in the dark. You're correct. The little line on the knob that indicates your selection does have the faintest glow to it. I can't imagine why that would be. I could have gone my whole life and never noticed it. My opinion on the dealers stays the same though
