Default Interior Light issue

I have been trying to find the solution to an issue I am having with my 2015 JK. It is a two door, Manual windows and Locks. The Interior lights do not come on when I open the driver side door. If I open the passenger door they come on, or If I turn the knob on the turn signal stalk, they come on. I have checked and the wiring harness that connects to the door is connected. I saw somewhere there was a switch but further reading it was a power door switch, that doesn't apply to my application. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Even though you don't have power locks, the switch for the lights is in the door latch mechanism.

When you open the driver's door to get in, does your odometer come on with the miles reading?
Also, with the engine running, do you get a door ajar warning when you open the door?

Thats a great question. I just went and checked, and when i open the door the odometer does not light up and when running I do not get a door open alert.

OK. The problem is most likely with the harness, or in the latch assembly.

Do you have only 2 wires in the connector?

On the body side of the harness, jump from pin 3 to ground. That will simulate the latch switch closing to ground. The interior light should come on. Another test is to check between the pins on the door side of the harness with an ohm meter. You should get continuity when the door is open.
