IPod Integreation

Ok so I have an 09 4dr wrangler, with the basic stereo with Sirius. I want to get Ipod integreation for it but do not know what all I need to get so that it will work right. Can anyone help?

Are you looking to keep the stock stereo or replace it. If you plan on replacing it, there are many options. Alpine is my favorite. You will need a few parts with any aftermarket stereo. 1) The new new head unit. 2) A dash kit. 3) A wiring harness- These happen to be quite expensive due to the CAN-BUS system in the Jeep.

Alpine Makes a Digital Media Receiver that has full Ipod integration and will even display album artwork on the receivers screen. It also comes with the proper cord that can be run through to the glovebox to connect to the Ipod. Check out CRUTCHFIELD . com. they should have everything you will need for the installation including detailed instructions and diagrams. They will sometimes throw in the dash kit and other small items needed for free if you buy a head unit over a certain price. Be prepared to pay for the wiring harness no matter what.

Good luck and keep us posted.

If you are planning to keep your stock radio, you will need to get the UConnect Module and the iPod cable. With over $200 in parts just for that, a new head unit sounds like a better idea.

Yea I was wanting to keep the stock head unit, but it seems that going to a new one would be better. Oh well thanks for your help. I guess I'm just going to wait a little bit before I get a new head unit.

I wanted to use my ipod with the stock radio, what I went with was a 3.5mm cable that passed the line level output from the ipod's dock connector (much better sound quality over the headphone out on the ipod). The cable I bought was from cables to go # 35508, its 4' long and only $13 from amzn.

I am going to have to look into this. Cables to go? Does it work with the iPhone too?

Keep in mind that this only passes the audio signal. You will still have to control the iPod from the iPod, you won't be able to control it from the head unit.
