Does anyone have a link to a video of how to replace the TIPM on the 3.8? I am confused when I read this part:

“Carefully unplug all of the connections on the bottom of the tipm.(These have gray rotating clips that attached to the plug). They are all color coded/idiot proof to reinstall. There is a small black release in the center push them in with the screw driver then rotate the gray clip downward to release.”

On those clips- once you gently pull the TIPM off of the stanchions you'll see the 7-8 wiring harness bundles. Each one has a large lever that you flip over and as you flip it, it releases itself from the module. Once you pick up the box you'll see and it'll all be clear.

What are the stantions? Are they the seven clips that secure the top of the box to the bottom of the box?

They must be the two pieces that hold the box in place, right? I removed the box from those and disconnected the batt cable on the tipm, but the tipm rocks back on the hinge only a tad; not enough to get underneath.

Thanks for any help folks.

Yes, there are 2 or 3 little posts that it sits on. You push the plastic out of the way and then lift up.

Different vehicle, but very similar to what we have. Ron has a writeup on dissecting it but with his pictures you may get an idea of what's happening- TIPM JK study on Google, it pulls up on Wrangler Forum and here as well, I believe.

Edit: that is on a wrangler!

Thanks. Yeah I saw this video on Youtube but the TIPM on the JK’s is hinged on the back, and barely moves on the hinges.

Should I unhinge it so I can pull it out?

I relented and let the technician I occasionally use handle it. It was the ABS control module. He charged me $550, using a used module and did it all in one day.

Great thread even if it's a bit old.

My problem started with the fog lights going out when I turned on the right turn signal.

That went on awhile and then I lost the right High Beam.

Using the advice of this thread I shorted out the positive and negative battery leads and rebooted the TIPM getting back to the original problem.

I've pulled the TIPM, checked all the connections for corrosion, reseated all the relays and fuses, and reinstalled it to still have the fog light/turn signal problem.

The TIPM installed in my '13 JK is 68163903AB and searching the MOPAR parts sites I find the current part number is 68244879AA.

Does anyone know the segment of the TIPM that controls the fog lights and turn signals?

Has anyone had the problems seen in the TIPM's from 2008 to 2014 in the newer 68244879AA module? Are TIPM problems occurring in the 2015 and newer JK's?

Thanks for the help.
