Led taillight wiring
 

Wiring up my led taillights in a minute...

Im guessing that I cut the factory harness plug off, and splice in the wires ( running,ground,brake) to the new taillight harness's appropriate wires ( luckily they are labeled)

I don't have a meter, and I remember seeing some kind of post about the color coding, but I cant find it. Does anyone know which colors are which for the taillights?

And not sure why, but I have 5 wires on the driver side and 4 wires on the passenger side?

So I just wired up my tail lights.

Passenger side is working as it should. When I do my left blinker, nothing happens and the blinker starts doing that really fast thing...

When I do my right blnker, both go off ( hazard lights) and my hazard lights work as they should. I have resisters on both lights.

On the driver side, going from factory harness to new harness:
white w/ yellow - red
black - white
white w/ orange - black

Any thoughts? im guessin I need to change the orange one?

Black should go to black. Those are grounds.

White/yellow is running. White/orange is brake. I'd test them out first before you solder or finalize the connections to double check. If you don't have someone to help, I usually just wedge a hammer between the brake pedal and the seat cushion.

The 4th wire on pass side is for backup/reverse lights. The extra "5th" wire on driver side is probably the illumination for the license plate.

Usually if the dash light is blinking extra fast, it means a bulb has gone out --- but since you've switched to LEDs it could be because you had that black wire in wrong spot, or your resistor isn't properly connected. Good luck & let's see some pics when done.

I actually figured it out and the wiring was a little different. Maybe my 08 is a little weird.

On the driver side I have purple/white --> black ( running)
green/white --> red ( brake/stop)
black --> white (ground)

For some reason, the white wire on the new taillights is the ground.

On the passenger side I have purple/white--> black (running)
yellow/white--> red (brake/stop)
black --> white (ground)

Making up a show and tell thread right now.
