Default Mopar Trail Guide Disables Dash Display Compass?

Ok, so I just installed the little Trail Guide, does it get rid of the dash display compass? I know I had to remove the factory compass itself for the install, and I realize the Trail Guide itself has the compass display on it, but I just want to make sure I didn't mess anything up since I no longer have that display in with the MPG, miles til fill up, temp, etc.

Thanks all.

When you installed the TG did you remove the sensor for the dash compass ?
If so it may disable the display as a warning somthings wrong You may have to replace it and just zip ty it in a new location.

Yeah the instructions for the Trail guide simply say to unplug it. Now giving it some thought on how it was all wired, there's no way for it to be displayed. lol

The dash isn't giving any type of error reading, it's simply not showing the compass anymore. So I'm guessing all is well. Thanks renegade for helping me realize the obvious, that without the compass attached it wouldn't display anything. lol Sometimes I'm a little slow. And reconnecting the compass and zip tying it in a different location would definitely work I think. There's just enough room I think behind the radio to do that.

Thanks!

Just one thing it may not read correctly due to interference from the trail guide.

Hmm, yet another good point. I guess I'll just leave it out and get used to using the Trail Guide.

Thanks again. I'm always worried I'm going to break something. lol

I just downloaded and read the instructions for the Garmin Trail Guide installation. Step 9 says "Reinstall and plug in compass module." Step 11 says "Manually calibrate the compass, as folows..."
Are your instructions different?

I think my instructions could be incomplete. I bought it off a forum member and the trail guide itself works great, but the compass thing had me wondering.

Edit: Found the instructions. And yes it does look like it should get plugged back in. Hmm, I'll have to pop it off tomorrow and do that.

I think when I read the instructions I read it as plug in the wire I just ran up from the cigarette lighter into the garmin piece I just installed. I think I was confused, because there wasn't a picture of the compass getting plugged back in.

Thanks all!

As a point of info, I plugged mine back in and did the calibration procedure, and everything works just fine.

I think you got your answer but your compass will work fine with the Trail guide you do need to manually calibrate it. I forget the steps entirely but you have to drive SLOW and in a circle for a few seconds...i remember having to do that. then i was done and everything works as it should. Like you, I want it working!

Congrats.
