My JK is possessed!!
Ok, so i'm leaving work to go to lunch with a co-worker. I use the remote to open the doors and when I open the drivers side door, BOOM. The wipers, hazards, and horn all start freaking out. I try starting the Jeep and now it won't turn off and everything is still freaking out. I open the fuse box and poof, everything shuts off (I didn't touch a fuse, just opened it).
After a few minutes of "WTF just happened" look, I tested the locks, all good. Then I put in the key and the Jeep starts and shuts off without any issues but the engine light is on.
I can smell a faint, burning electronics smell. So, I drive down to 4wheelparts and to drop off a light bar that was the wrong part number and on the way back I notice my Ipod charger's light is off (it's plugged into the 12v connector).
I mess with it but nothing. Pull it apart and boom, it's all burnt up. By this time the engine light is no longer on.
I go to auto zone and they pull the code U0141.
Theory, can the shorted out charger have caused this issue. Code U0141 is some kind of loss of communications and I've read that, that could be anything that has caused an electrical hicup anywhere in the system.
I also just installed a new winch, bumper and steps but don't think any of them would have cause it but I double checked all the winch connections to be sure and they are all tight.
Just wanted to see if the charger could have been the problem, hoping for reassurance to calm my nerves...lol
Thanks

I thought it was a good idea to post an update on my TIPM issue.
I did order a new TIPM and it took about a 6 weeks to get it in. I went through a Chrysler case worker and opened a case on it.
I have to say that going this route is outstanding. Even though it took 6 weeks to get my TIPM (at $283), I was able to get it installed ($282) and all problems have gone away.
Now, for the good news. Because it took 6 weeks and because I went through a Chrysler case worker, I am awaiting a check for $485. I'm not sure if its because I was very patient or because Chrysler has secretly acknowledged that there is a serious problem with the TIPM in 2008 JK's but she was able to get me reimbursed for all but $100 (Part and Labor). She told me that the reason for the delay is because they have changed manfactures of the TIPM.
Not sure if anyone else is having a TIPM issue but if you are and you get the run around, call Chryslers customer support and tell them you would like to open a case on your Jeep. The case stays with your Jeep for the life of the vehicle, even if it changes owners.
