The MyGIG stores a laughable amount of music compared to the 6 Disk DVD JK Radio.

A 700MB CD of 320kbps files has at most 150 songs. The MyGig stores at most 1000 songs @ 320kbps each in its 8GB area.

DVD's will hold 1024 songs each and thus you have 6144 songs...no usb for more but oh well!

When are OEM and aftermarket Radio mfrs going to make it simple and have GPS Maps on update able SD Cards, then throw a true 60 or 80gb hdd in there for media and still allow usb/fiwi connections.....oh yea and be under $1500.

MyGIG has a single CD-DVD drive which will play single or dual layer discs with 1024 songs.

Dual Layer is a waste as the song count is still limited to 1024 songs. Throw the disc in a PC however and you'll see the full contents and song count.

I love this thread because the more I read it, the more I'm glad I cancelled the MyGig...

I am glad i got the mygig love the storage space it has and the touch screen controls. Now I just have to buy the by pass switch for the dvd player to play in drive and I will be set. I think it runs about 100 bucks someone had a link up to it somewhere on here.

I too was disappointed I couldn't get the MyGig but all for the better for two reasons. 1. Worried about theft topless. 2. The DVD's hold 4.7GB worth of mp3's (x6). The songs show up on the screen and are easy to scroll through. Without a cord hanging down, a mp3 player to charge, and without running through 2 EQ's, it was a pleasant surpise to notice the DVD player played mp3 dvd's!

There is no such link. It is limited by the factory for certain states. If yours is one of them, you're out of luck.

I haven't heard of anyone trying FreeGig..but its really you're only option, but unconfirmed on whether it works or not.

Thanks - I was reading post #26 and it sounded like there was a post available.

The factory setting you are talking about in certain states, make it not play AT ALL - Even while parked, correct? I'm not in one of those states, but would like it to play while not in park.
