MyGIG . . . Was it worth the wait?
By now, at least a handful of people must have MyGIG.
If you have it, tell us, and tell us if it's as cool as it sounds, or a regretted bait for thieves . .
(JK ordered December 26th; now in BX status).

I just got mine yesterday and am still learning. I think so far the MyGig is awesome. The bummer so far is the bluetooth cell phone thing is disabled as well as the voice activation thing. Oh well, everything else so far is great. Going to spend more time today figuring it out.

Until someone figures out the bypass, like they did for my Chrysler 300C head unit, it's a less than desirable unit to me.....Imagine prgramming a trip into Nav, and you're on your way, and 4 hours later, you're hungry, and want to search for a restaurant, and program a detour....you'll have to pull over, and be in park to do that......
I understand preventing someone from watching a movie as they're driving down the road.....not preventing from a short search and entry.
I just installed the Kenwood DNX7100, and got the bypass.....it's great.

I just got my jk last week and took it on a road trip out of town. I used the navigation to find my hotel one night after making a wrong turn. The turn by turn voice instructions were great! It would be nice to disable the keyboard lock while going down the road so my co-pilot could enter a destination. I love the mygig and have no regrets.
Just put 1200 miles on my new JK with the MyGig. I have several other navigation systems, a factory installed one in my 05 WK and a Pioneer AVIC-N2 in my 97 TJ. I'm like many others, I hope someone finds a workaround for not being able to look ahead in the map system or reprogram your destination on the move. The WK system lets you do it fairly easily. Without that flexibility, the MyGIG, as a nav system is cumbersome at best. Had I thought it was so inflexible, it is not likely I would have included it in my order. Otherwise, the system is fairly neat.
Also, like others, I would like to have seen the U-Connect be activated and available, but knew it wasn't when I ordered it. I still believe, as I have stated previously on this subject, that you can take the parts that make this feature active on the Nitro and Sebring's with the MyGIG and intall them in your Wrangler with MyGIG and have the U-Connect feature. I'm going to further pursue this with my dealer now that I have the car. It's going to be more expensive than if it had been included originally, but it will be worth it to have handsfree available without worrying whether or not the handsfree unit is charged.
