Default Need some help

I have been searching and searching but can not find the thread.... I installed some Hella Fog lamps today and at first had no luck when I hit the switch for the first time

Find out the inline fuse on the wire going from the 12v (lowbeam tap) was blowing....I replaced it and now have lights but they are very DIM. I read that this happened to someone...just cant find the post.

Thanks in advance, Mike

I would check the ground. What are you grounding to? Not only the ground for the lights... but the relay as well.

The ground is solid...maybe the wires themselves are too light of a guage?

The wires would be fine if you're using wires supplied as a kit with the lights ?

Let us know where you connected the positive to ? but in meantime try running the positive lead directly from the battery, and post the results.

But grounded to what? Does it ground to the light tab or run back to the engine compartment? I check grounds with a multi-meter from the bulb base to the neg terminal on the battery. Check the Ohms reading.

If the ground checks out and you still have dim lights. You can check your positive system with the multi-meter. With no power again checking the Ohms reading from the power point to the lights. You will have to check without the relay. then you can check the relay itself. If you don't have an Ohm meter or want to check it another way: take a volt meter... connect the neg. to the battery ground. ... the lights on... start taking voltage readings at every connection along the + power path.... You should have very close to the same reading at the battery and at the light. If you drop more than a couple tenths of a volt... there is something wrong. Testing at every connection along the way will determine the problem.

my best guess without checking it myself would be a ground issue.
second guess would be a bad relay

X2....The TPMM will get confused if you tap into any of the other lights or wiring.

Just a side note: KC comes with one of the best wiring harnesses I have ever seen. Very very easy to install. All plug and play.
