New Clock Spring Required
Hi All,
I was told last week I have issues with my clock spring as I currently have the Traction Control light on. I did the alignment reset the steering angle sensor and still have the traction control light on. I am trying to replace my clock spring and was wondering if anyone has used an aftermarket model as the dealership is trying to charge $720. I have seen a Crown and an Accupart from Quadratec that show it fits my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. https://www.quadratec.com/p/accupart...r-jk-5156106ad https://www.quadratec.com/p/crown-au...-xk-liberty-kk Was wondering if you had any success with a particular model. In addition, do you need to recalibrate anything with the Computer or Disconnect Battery and Replace. Thank you, BajaJK |
I installed a Crown unit years ago. I have had no driveability issues with it myself. You should disconnect the battery for the simple fact that you are uninstalling airbag in the process. I don't recall having to do anything with the computer after replacing a clockspring.

Thanks for your support.
By any chance do you know if this will fit a 2017 Wrangler. I have noticed some of them go up to the 2016. Thank you, Baja JK |

Do yourself a favor and check yours for the recall first. If that’s a no go then I bought mine for $58. Took me a while to replace it, I’m a nurse not a mechanic, but I did it. I wasn’t paying $800 either. A couples things….the transaxle shift knob DOES NOT just “come right off”….that’s a lie….and the three SIMPLE clips on the airbag are a huge pain in the ass…I won’t even say how long it took to get that off…. I also replaced both the wiper and directional switches while I was in there. They are cheap and there was no way I was dealing with taking everything apart AGAIN. Bought the parts on EBAY. Cheap. Good luck! |
