That piece is used to intergrate with after market radios (pionner's, Alpines's, JVC, ect.) because all the new wranglers are wired "CANBUS" you need that piece to add an after market radio to the system. I have seen a few of them go bad in the past and cause the check engine light and passanger airbag lights to go on but never turn the volume up and down...if I were you I would take that piece out unless your trying to add an after market radio.

sorry your probably right, I think I looked up the wrong part number. I'm just trying to add an amp to mygig. There is a PAC line output converter that was used . . . . it doesn't work with nav units, just mygig non nav . . .

I bought the C2A-CHY2 to add an amp and extra subwoofer and keep the factory infinity system in tact. It works good 99% of the time, but every now and then suddenly the sub blasts full volume out of no-where, and with 750 watts and dual 12's that can be sometimes embarrassing. It could either be the amps gain controller malfunctioning or something wrong with the C2A-CHY2. Either way, I have to admit it was a super easy to add an amp with it, and the signal sounds very clean.
