Arrow Quick simple post re. Music on USB Thumb Drives

A quick simple post on USB thumb drive hosted music (searched the Forum for this info, didn't find any duplicate posts, if so, apologies):

1) Make sure the USB thumb drive is formatted as FAT32.
2) Place all your MP3 format music files in root directory, not in folders. For best results, remove any extraneous non-music files from the thumb drive.
3) Insert USB drive in your Jeep's head unit USB plug (gently remove button-sized cover (thankfully has retaining dongle) in the right side button row. See photo.
4) Upon power up, the head unit will read the USB and start playing the music MP3 files (you can cycle through the music with on-screen forward/back buttions)

You can play the music directly from the USB drive, or copy them to your Wrangler's HDD unit. There are posts elsewhere on the forum on how to copy the music to the HDD.

We tried several manufacturer thumb drives, some load faster than others - it's a function of USB memory chip speed/quality. USB drive chip quality and speed generally corresponds to price. The cheapest USB memory chip drives may not be as reliable over the long term as those from reputable brand name sources.
