Radio Volume - Max w/o Distortion?

I was just curious the various volumes that people listen to their radio... this is for factory units with the infinity system....

how loud??? i usually stay around the 20-23 range

bass level??? +2 for rap/hiphop and -2 for rock, metal, cd's, country, etc.

mids??? +4 all the time

highs??? +9 all the time

I do about the same on volume...not usually so much mid and treb..keep it about +3 +2 +5 in your order...but of course that changes with music.

old guy

i'm an old guy (52) and i like to crank it ...some...

if there is something i really like --Black Sabbath - Gorillaz-- i usually have the volume at 30 the bass at +9, mid range +5 and treble at 0...:yup:

i have not detected any distortion....which also make me wonder why the volume goes up to 30 something, instead of going like say ...1 to 100 ??

Radio sounds horrible and I'm not too impressed w/ CD's either...so I'm doing a major upgrade. 4ch amp...50 RMS watts on each channel...and a 380 RMS watt for a 10" Sub....

The bass is horrible and at even +2 and volume at around 25 or so....
I just like loud music and would like to hear some good bass of it too...

You've said this before, and so have I - I disagree. It's not "horrible", but it's certainly not up to aftermarket spec. It's by far the best factory radio I've ever owned. I've had my JK for 2 weeks now and I'm overall satisfied with its sound. It will suffice until I have the time to install some amps and new speakers, which I'll get around to whenever I get bored. (I have a whole stash of amps and stereo crap in my attic)

The bass, mids, and treble are certainly lacking compared to other systems I've built..but what do you expect - it's stock. I've never heard a stock system that's totally wowed me.

back on topic...wow! 30 is high..and I thought I was going crazy with 23/24. I guess I should crank it this weekend when the top is down to see what it can do.

mlbplayer86 05-04-2007 11:51 PM
