I was worried about this with my radio. I own a canvas company and came up with this idea (see pic) I'm now working on a way to make it easier to install (no snaps). If I can figure out an easy way to mount it without putting snaps in I may try to sell them.

My 430N gets moisture behind the screen sometimes. It'll act kooky until it dries out.

I kept hearing about this problem and almost got caught in a downpour with my top off several times. After thinking about it, I came up with a solution I liked so much that I decided to get a Pat. Pend. on it and start making them. I'm just making them to order in my garage at the moment, but I created a website for it, dashboardcondom.com. Basicallly, its a sheet of thin latex that stretches over the head-unit with thin wires and hooks at each end. The hooks connect to the windshield defroster vents and stretch down to the bottom of the center console near the floorboards. So far, its working great and creates a great seal from water, sand and dust. Its reusable and very compact (folds into a 4" sq. Ziploc bag) with no permanent mounting needed. I can even see and operate the radio through it as well as work the windows...if the doors are even still on. Anyway, I would love to hear feedback on the concept. I threw it up for commenting on some Facebook sites and got nothing but JK haters laughing. It is supposed to be a little funny...AKA Dashboard Condom, but dang...lots of Jeepers hate JKs!

I think most of us here are very aware of the jk jeep haters out there, i now avoid TJ owners completely. I love the product u got going on there, that looked pretty neat. U need to make one that will work with tuffy box on top.

Sounds cool, do you feel your product is finished? I would be interested.

Oddly enough there is another forum member who came up with a remedy to the rain on stereo bit.

I saw a guy who had a canvas sewn cover that snaps onto the dash. Probably a more permanent type setup, but I thought the Dashboard Condom idea was unique in that you can still kinda see and operate your radio through it...even touch screens. I have had a pretty good response from it, but need to get out to some events with it and spread the word ... would appreciate anyone sharing the site around.
