Were you thinking a downfire box?
I have no doubt you could fit 10s, maybe shallow 12s. Here what I would do. Get down and start measuring. Then get some cardboard and start putting together a template and see how big you can make your box. You will need to see how much volume your box could have, then match a sub to the volume.

The seats look easy to remove, access to the bolts is pretty straight forward. Take pics of what you do, there are probably others that want to do the same.

I'll start looking into it. Only problem is, I don't own any wood working tools. I'll get working on a cardboard template though. Gives me a reason to mess around with the Jeep.

Great work Matt!
Ive been trying to rack my mind to come up with a better solution for my amps and sub as well. Wish my amps were as small as those RF's you installed so I could put them near the same place. I might have to look into putting them up in the dash anyhow. Air volume with the sub is the only thing that is stopping me from moving it right now. The .65 needed for my JL seems a bit too large for under the seats when I had them out for the wiring.

You might be able to get .65, but you would have to extend the box up between the seat frame which would move the woofer up closer to the bottom of the seat. I also have room to extend the box 2-3 back to the back edge of the seat. I estimate I could have extended up about 2" and that would give you an additional .15 cu feet to put you right at .65. To me it's worth the try. It's the only way to get enough bass in an open roof Jeep without putting a gigantic box in the back with 15s.

You have to have a friend with a garage, circular saw, drill and screwdriver. It's worth the effort to build stuff yourself. Just take your time and do it right. Glue and screw. Black speaker carpet is easy to find or Linex works great. Tons of forums and web pages in box building. Just search google.

Did you start with the drivers seat or the passengers? I found the drivers seat in my 2dr had a bracket holding on a plug underneath. I think its for the airbag sensors and not sure why it has a bracket... but I will probably have to drill out the rivets and measure for space. I havent been much for having subs under a seat as I felt it muffled the bass punch, but there arent too many options in a Jeep lol.

Since bass is non-directional and I have a good 3-4" clearance under my seats, I don't have any muffled bass. Just solid punchyness. Is that a word?

Removed that bracket and used zip ties to keep the wires organized up under the seats. Click image for larger version

There are also to little tabs that stick down about a half inch on each seat bracket that would need to be cut off. I used a grinder and cut them off and painted the bare metal.

I have orders for several of these under seat boxes and settled on a price that worked for the other people and makes my time worth while. I can make one or two more as long as my jeep is pulled apart. If you are interested, let me know by PM. I would need to know before June 8th when I get started on the others - I only plan to do this in one batch. Thanks Matt

Two separate because I wanted 300 watts at 1ohm per sub. Amps matched up the subs perfectly. Also if there is a failure on one amp I pop it out and put a new one in. If I have a multi-channel and there is a problem, I lose everything.

No reason you could run a single amp at 600w at 2ohms to both subs.
