Default Reverse signal wire in front driver's side??

Going to be installing a backup camera soon and had a question: I want to be able to use it while not in reverse so I'll probably use a switched power source for the camera itself, but I also want it to switch automatically when I go into reverse so I need a reverse signal wire for that. I'm reading about one in the passenger side footwell up by the firewall--is there one somewhere on the driver's side as well?

If not I can run a second wire all the way up the driver's side along with the video cable, just would be easier/less wire if there's something up front where I'll already be into the front driver's side panels to hide the video cable.

Yes, there is one in the wiring harness along the drivers side. It should be white with a gray stripe.

Cool I'll have to look for that. Just waiting on my new head unit to arrive so I can see how it's all wired. Hopefully it has everything labeled well

If you have a 7-way trailer receptacle you can tap into the reverse wire behind the left taillight where the 7-way plugs into the harness and not tap into the can-bus system as the Jeep doesn't read the trailer wiring.

You lost me--why would it matter if I tap into the can bus sytem? And also I know there's a reverse wire in the taillight for the reverse lamp, I was hoping not to run a wire from there all the way to the front.

You don’t have to. You can tap in either under the dash on the passenger side or under the drivers seat.
