Honestly, I don't know if you can watch a movie on it or not but it does have a big enough screen to do so. But, I'm pretty sure that the unit is just designed to read DVD's for their geographic software and/or music.
Anybody else know about this system? Is it like what the Grands and the Commanders have now?

I read a thread where someone put a movie dvd in and could get all the sound. I bet there is a way to connect a monitor. Probably have to wait until someone pulls theirs apart to see if there are any extra plugs in the back

Very good. I was planning on buying a IPod so the kids can watch a movie while moving (have to see if it work) but if we can figure out how to plug a monitor out of it, it will be great.

I elected to order mine WITHOUT the MyGig system - first, I don't want to wait; second, if you buy it aftermarket, it won't have the lockout where you can't navigate or view a movie while the vehicle's moving, and also I plan to attach headset monitors to it also, so that means I'll need a custom install regardless.

Check out the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 at this web site: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...unit=AVIC%20Z1
It has XM, OR Sirius, NAV, DVD MOVIE /music capability, CD, FM/AM, and other cool stuff. Mine's going to get one as soon as it arrives, I can post a ton of pics once I get started, though I bet it'll be a chore to wire in. You can find them for about $1500 which is comparable to the DC Nav system currently available. I chose it because I'm a diehard XMer, NOT Sirius. Plus, with the screen in the middle, I can put the kid's seat in the middle of the back seat and she'll have a birds eye view of any movie I play for her on road trips.

YOWZA! That thing is NICE. Backup camera, Bluetooth, & iPod controls are all things I want, that the MyGig doesn't offer. (If you tow a lot, you quickly appreciate a backup camera for getting hitched.)

That's the ticket Laddie...
Voice activated, watch DVD movies, electronic compass, voltmeter, even a slope angle meter, what's not to like?! Oh yea, it also has a useless G-meter, not that the current JK will have much use for that unless one boosts the engine.

Another option to consider is a full-blown PC for your car.
I'm leaning this way because of the special off-road nav software I want to use in Mexico.
There are even turnkey systems to use if you don't mind the expense.
Not for the faint-of-heart, but the possibilities are endless.
