Default Starting Trouble after Sitting

Hello all, this is my first post. I have a '16 JKU that I'm having problems with starting since the quarantine started. I normally drive to/from work every day, but now my car sits in the garage for days at a time. Recently when I get into the car the dome lights and chime is on, but when I turn the key, I hear a click and everything goes black. The car sits for a minute or so, I open and close some doors, the lights come back on and it starts right up. My radio and engine hour display both reset every time this happens. Usually it only does this once and the first time I start it after a few days. Every other start is normal. I don't know if this is static or I have a bad ground somewhere that is shorting the whole system out. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Thanks.

Could be a battery in poor health. Could be a starter hang up. I've had both of those things happen to me in my 2012. When the starter was going bad it acted similar to what you are describing.

2016 and it's 2020 now. If its the Mopar battery it's shot most likely. Mine would not even last 2 years sometimes when it was under warranty.

UPDATE: I took the battery to Advance Auto Parts and was planning on getting a new one. The guy tested it and battery came back fine. I took it home and tightened the grounds on the passenger fender and the one under the driver's seat and reinstalled the battery.

Tested it, and it started first try. I'm planning on letting it sit a few days and trying again to see if I'm in the clear.

If you have a multi meter you may want to check it a few times and see what the actual numbers are. You could also trickle charge it for a night and then leave it completely unplugged for a few days and see if it holds the charge. I prefer to troubleshoot this ruling out the battery for sure.

Were they able to load test the battery or is it just showing the voltage is reading normal?
