Ill try to post some pics tonight of my setup... basically its self contained.. the amp is fixed to the back of the sub box. This way the sub is protected, its easy to pull everything else out at once and when you fold the seat forward you can just slide the sub up to app more space. Works great plus the box i am using is vented which makes it a lot louder!

here is the link for my sub and box... it blows away most dual twelve inch setups!

No rattles, no dynamat, no drilling just a lot of bass in a small package!

To hook up an aftermarket amp to a stock system you can use a speaker level converter. just wire it off of your factory sub wires or rear speakers. Check the link below... i wouldnt recommend this exact one but it was the easiest to find!

I chose to install an aftermarket stereo. I have had tons of aftermarket stereos and installed them all... you never get good sound off of a stock stereo. A nice aftermarket stereo allows you to take the bass out of your speakers and concentrate it to just the subwoofer.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks! You have to have an adapter for the dash in order for it to fit, and also an adapter to plug it into the factory harness. I got both at best buy. The dash kit comes with double din and single din adapters.

If you use the factory deck I would use the exact adapter that strike listed. I have used them in probably 20 installs even including a bose system in a home(dont ask). They are cheap and do exactly what the more expensive units do.

The amp is an old Kicker kX600.1 with the big goofy cover off of it. I love that amp. We tested it at a local audio shop and at 14.4v it put out like 747rms @ 2ohms. not bad considering its rating is 600rms.

Tapping into the sub woofer wires AFTER the stock Infinity amp will not provide a full range signal. This would affect how high you can set the after market amplifier's crossover setting. Basically, tapping into the wires AFTER the stock Infinity amp would limit the frequency output of the after market amp to what the stock amp is set to. If the stock amp sub woofer is crossed at 60Hz then the after market amp would be crossed at 60Hz as well, no matter how high you set the crossover setting on the after market amp.

I'm thinking that in order to attain a full range signal so I can control the crossover setting on the after market amp the speaker wires need to be tapped BEFORE the stock Infinity amp. This way, I can cross the after market amp at 120Hz, 100Hz, 90Hz, 80Hz, etc...

The reason I want this control is so there is an adequate punch in the mid range frequencies at higher volumes. At conservative volumes the loudness of the 6.5 inch mids are just fine. They provide plenty of mid range bass and it sounds pretty good. BUT... when I want to crank the stereo the 6.5 inch mids just don't push enough air to give me the punch I'm looking for. In order to remedy this I would like to cross the sub woofer at 100Hz because this would give me the mid range punch I'm looking for at higher volumes.

If I'm wrong in my stock Infinity system "crossover" assumption please correct me. It's been mentioned by one member in passing that the Infinity amp crosses the frequencies but I don't know this to be true. If you have info on this please provide.
To be honest with you im not sure if that is completely correct... one way to check would be to hook up a regualar house speaker to the rear subwoofer cable and turn on your car stereo. You will immediately find if the signal is filtered or unfiltered. Subwoofers are built for producing loud low ends and usually do not put out very loud high ends..i would check this out first.. probably save you a ton of time.

I agree with you on your hz choice.. i usually run my sub up to about 120 hz and start my other speakers at 100hz... seems to give the best sound and you know even if your amp crossover is a little off compared to what your headunit crossover is you will never miss any bits of the range. Good luck and let me know what you come up with!

Okay, so I have installed a 10" Kicker CVR in a downfiring box, with a Fosgate 400M Amp. The problem I am having, is that I have wired the converter (before amp), into the rear sub wiring AFTER the Infinity amp, and can't figure out which wires are POS and NEG. Anyone here know which wires at the Infinity are POS and NEG for the rear sub?

Doesn't make a difference but usually stiped wires are negative. Like i said you can hook them up either way though
