Third brake light with Trek top.

I removed my tire carrier so was without a third light like several people. I'm not sure how big a deal it is since I ran that way for a few weeks with no problem but added one anyway.
This will not work well if you still have a factory top but for the Trek top it works great!
Autozone sells an led running board light that comes in red or amber for @ $9. These are the same lights used in bushwacker flat fenders if anyone has seen them.
Simple install. Mount directly to the rear roll bar center section behind the rear dome light in a JKU. (Not sure about a 2 door.) Wire directly to the factory wiring. Done.

It is illegal to run without it. But who knows if the PoPo would give you a citation for it. Maybe could use it as an excuse to pull you over and check you out.

I didn't have any problems without it but for a few bucks why take a chance!?

As a LEO I can say I have better things to do than stop someone for a 3rd brake light, as long as the other 2 work. Unless I need it for probable cause to start looking for something bigger.

Unfortunatly, cant say the same for ALL my bretheren. Some are just too anal to let that slide.

What did you use to relocate your license plate? I'm looking to do something similar to mine.

Just as long as you are aware that it isn't legal. Then you won't be surprised if someday you are actually ticketed for it.

The CHMSL (center hi mounted stop light ) actually does help prevent you from getting rear ended as its in the following drivers center vision. If you make a plug-in harness connector ,and stick an LED on with velcro, that's better than nothing.

Bought a cheap license plate bracket and led plate holder and bolted it to a painted tub/container lid. Bolted it with the factory carrier bolts. About $20. Still up in the air about running a tire carrier so wasn't spending too much until I decide.

Have not had one for years , just some people are anal or they just can't see the other two lights , so let me ask how do you not rear end a big truck that does not need the third brake light
