I think goes without saying, but you may want to make sure your Jeep can tow all that weight. 2 Hogs and a trailer is almost 2k pounds. Add in any special gear and you will be maxed out. I'm sure you thought of this, but I just throw it in there for safety.

I got the Prodigy in 03 and have never had any trouble.
I for one think you made a wise choice.
Thanks for the support

everything I've seen on here, as well as my searches on the net says that the Prodigy is a good unit, and is fairly simple to set up. I just don't know where this old guy was getting his info and why he was so set on selling me the cheapest controller they had...usually it's the other way around and they're trying to sell you something overally expensive you don't need

Looks like he's got an Unlimited, so he should be fine unless he's bringing a TON of extra stuff in there!

Just wait until I get my trailer next week...I'll take a couple pics of it loaded up. I guarantee it'll look like too much to haul, but surprisingly, I'll be well within my weight limits.

I am under the limit but the Jeep don’t like it, I would not head out to the mountains with it overpass’s give it hell, I rarely use it to tow but I like having it at the ready.

Incidentally, I had one installer - an old guy - try to steer me away from the Prodigy to a time delay model instead. He said the Prodigy is more hassle than it's worth to set up, and only really for big trailers, with 2 or 3 axels. Is it really that much of a pain? The instructions seem pretty straightforward
RV dealers or installers who say get the time delay units are Full Of Sh%t. They haven't done any towing with the new style with the proportional controllers. I tow with my S10 the time delay but I purchased the proportional for the Jeep and there is a night and day difference.

Also everyone also underestimates the towing capability of the jeeps IMHO. I have towed with mine with no problems and I am pushing the limit on my 2-door all the time. But if you don't have gears (4:10 which I have) or put on bigger tires I can imagine that they cant get out of their own way.

Well, I got my brake controller installed today, and all seems well so far. Now all I need is the damned trailer!

I did a little more research locally on the Prodigy, and I think I got a steal of a deal on it. I got it from U-Haul, and the guy who sold it to me pointed out that their pricing is wrong, and that everything is at the US price, and not converted to CAD. I paid $149, but everywhere else I checked had them ranging from $189 to $220

On your brake controller I think you should only have 4 wires...black, white, red and blue.

I think the colors are:
Black - power - positive
White - power - negative
Red - Brake wire
Blue - runs back to your connector/trailer.

You may want to double check your instructions for those colors though...just to play it safe

If you're asking which wire under the dash is the brake wire, your best bet is to get a test light and check the wires around the brake pedal until you get the one that lights up when the pedal is pressed...that's the one you splice your red wire into.
