Default Transfer Case Switch Install Issues

My wife’s 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport has a faulty transfer case switch. It is causing acceleration and shifting issues so I purchased a new Mopar replacement from the dealership because I saw several YouTube videos with people having trouble with aftermarket ones. I crawled under the Jeep and the clearance on top of the transfer case to get to the switch is incredibly tight. After a lot of struggling with it, I was barely able to get the wire disconnected and the 1 1/2” socket on top of the switch, and was able to get the switch out. The problem I’m having now is getting the new switch installed. With how tight the clearance is, I’m not able to get the threads aligned correctly and also depress the plunger on the switch in order to get it threaded in. I read other forums on different years and models that say it’s possible to access the switch from the top inside the Jeep because of how tight the clearances are from underneath, but I don’t see how that’s possible on this model. However, I haven’t taken the middle console out yet to try. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know with this year and model if it’s possible to access the transfer case switch from the top from inside the Jeep? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I have not had that experience and have no recommendations. Good group here - knowledgeable and willing to provide info.

Have you scanned it for any codes? May not be a bad idea to replace those pieces, but if those aren't a problem, may want to scan first and see if the actual problem comes up.
